Kerala Expansion • FY27 Wave 1
Open a TrimX in Kerala
Wave 1 is evaluating 6–8 priority locations across 22 prospective Kerala catchments in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. The compact four-chair FOCO format uses an indicative investment estimate, rollout target and rent-screening benchmark confirmed only after site and commercial review.Indicative — pending confirmation
Planning figures are not guarantees or an offer. TrimX is not yet operating in Kerala. Final investment, timing, territory, projected sales and lease terms are documented in the current franchise pack and agreement.
Backed by TrimX’s operating network of 28 salons across Telangana and Karnataka (23 company-owned & run). Operating exclusively under the FOCO model (Franchise-Owned, Company-Operated) — you own the physical salon, while TrimX manages staffing, academy training, day-to-day operations and marketing end-to-end, sharing store revenue directly with you. A Kerala regional ops lead is to be appointed on the first Wave 1 commit.
Wave 1: First 6–8 Kerala Outlets
The current Wave 1 plan evaluates 6–8 outlets across three cities and four corridors, weighted toward Kochi (the strongest branded-grooming adopter) and Trivandrum (government-salaried base with reliable repeat). Allocation remains subject to catchment, site, commercial and agreement approval:
Edappally / Kakkanad
Kochi residential-and-IT anchor. High apartment density, metro-connected, strong weekday-evening repeat demand.
Vyttila / Kadavanthra / Panampilly Nagar
Central Kochi dense residential grid. Premium at the lower rent band only; society-cluster frontage over main-road vanity.
Kazhakoottam / Vazhuthacaud
Trivandrum Wave 1 anchors — Technopark feeder and central residential — one each.
Nadakkavu (Kozhikode)
Kozhikode is on the published FY27 roadmap; Nadakkavu is the strongest residential entry if a 70+ scorecard property clears.

How TrimX Screens Kerala Store Economics
The planning framework screens footprint, catchment, access and rent assumptions before a site is considered for approval. Kerala’s price-conscious core customer and 3,000mm annual rainfall change the scorecard weightings without changing the fundamental compact-format logic. The framework reduces avoidable location risk but does not guarantee commercial performance.
The Society-Cluster Strategy — in Kerala
TrimX does not chase MG Road vanity frontages or NH-66 arterial retail. We search dense resident apartment clusters within a 500m walk — the real geography of 14-day grooming repeat demand in Kerala’s cities:
Societies / Apartments Per Outlet
The screening model looks for 10–20 residential societies or apartment buildings within roughly 500m and uses an indicative addressable-client assumption for catchment comparison. Indicative — pending confirmation
Sq. Ft Ground Floor
Compact, zero-wastage footprint. Requires ground-floor position, direct visibility from daily society traffic, monsoon-safe frontage and hassle-free two-wheeler parking.
Day Repeat Cycle
Men’s grooming is a habitual neighbourhood utility, not an impulse weekend purchase. Kerala’s customer is price-conscious but highly loyal when the format is clean, consistent and five minutes from home.
The 8–10% Rent-Screening Benchmark — Kerala
TrimX currently screens asking rent against 8–10% of an indicative conservative-sales assumption. In Kerala the conservative assumption starts slightly lower than the Ahmedabad equivalent to reflect the price-conscious core customer. This is a planning benchmark, not a performance guarantee, and every site still requires commercial approval.
| Conservative Monthly Sales | Maximum Recommended Rent | Rent-to-Revenue Cap | Kerala Expansion Guideline |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹1.8L / mo Indicative — pending confirmation | ₹15,000 – ₹17,000 Indicative — pending confirmation | 8.5–9.5% | Entry threshold for Tier 3 & 4 catchments (Thrikkakara, Vattiyoorkavu, Thalap). |
| ₹2.2L / mo Indicative — pending confirmation | ₹18,000 – ₹22,000 Indicative — pending confirmation | 8–10% | Target profile for Tier 1 Kochi/Trivandrum anchors (Edappally, Kakkanad, Kazhakoottam). |
| ₹2.7L / mo Indicative — pending confirmation | ₹22,000 – ₹26,000 Indicative — pending confirmation | 8–10% | Baseline for central residential pockets (Kaloor, Sasthamangalam, Vazhuthacaud). |
| ₹3.0L / mo Indicative — pending confirmation | ₹26,000 – ₹30,000 Indicative — pending confirmation | 8.5–10% | Approved ceiling for premium catchments at the lower rent band (Kadavanthra, Panampilly Nagar). |
| ₹3.5L / mo Indicative — pending confirmation | ₹30,000 – ₹34,000 Indicative — pending confirmation | 8.5–9.5% | Upper bound for the strongest Kochi flagship candidates only. |
The 8-Point Property Scorecard
Every candidate site proposed by a franchise partner or sourced by our real estate desk is graded against our weighted scorecard before lease execution. Kerala adds an explicit monsoon-drainage check — this coast gets 3,000mm a year and a flooded frontage costs you a season.

Kerala Corridors We Avoid in Wave 1 (And Why)
The current model deprioritises high-cost commercial, arterial and leisure corridors where rent and access do not fit a compact resident-catchment salon. Each site is still reviewed on its own evidence:
MG Road (Kochi) & MG Road (Trivandrum)
Pure commercial corridors. Rents reward footfall velocity, not the neighbourhood 14-day repeat cycle a 4-chair format depends on.
NH-66 Bypass arterial frontage (Kochi)
Vehicle-speed arterials do not generate pedestrian walk-ins; society-side service roads do.
Marine Drive (Kochi)
A premium leisure frontage, not a daily grooming catchment. Rent-to-revenue ratio does not clear the 8–10% screen.
LuLu Mall & other large-mall frontage
CAM, revenue-share clauses, paid parking and restricted hours erode compact-format economics.
Beach-road corridors (Kozhikode)
Scenic rent slips without a corresponding repeat-grooming catchment.
Our Franchise Model: FOCO (Franchise-Owned, Company-Operated)
Franchise-Owned Asset
You own the salon asset, styling stations and local property lease. The compact four-chair format, commercial responsibilities, risks and final terms are set out in the current franchise pack and signed agreement.
Your Role: 100% asset owner and strategic local partner with complete ownership of equipment and setup.
Company-Operated Floor
TrimX manages the salon end to end. We recruit, academy-train, and deploy stylists, handle daily floor operations, run centralized billing & POS, and execute hyper-local marketing, sharing monthly store revenue with you.
Our Role: TrimX headquarters runs daily operations, stylist recruitment, training, POS, and local demand generation. A Kerala regional ops lead is appointed on first Wave 1 commit.
Target 30-day rollout after approvals
The current plan targets 30 days after agreement, site approval and property takeover. Contractor availability, monsoon exposure, statutory approvals and site conditions can change the timing:
Property possession handover, catchment validation, landlord agreement review with 8–10% rent ceiling enforcement, and signing of the FOCO franchise agreement.
Standardised turnkey architecture plan executed by certified contractors: mirrors, electrical lines, water drainage, flooring, and 4 ergonomic styling chairs. Monsoon-ready sealing and anti-slip floor finish specified for Kerala sites.
Installation of self-service check-in kiosk, centralized billing POS, brand signage, and initial inventory of disposable grooming products and consumables.
Deployment of vetted stylists trained at the TrimX Academy (regional ops lead to be appointed on Wave 1 commit), hyper-local apartment society marketing, WhatsApp booking line activation, and doors open.
Request a Kerala Catchment Review
Catchments are prospective until the site, commercial terms and partner application are approved. Whether you already have a 300–400 sq.ft commercial property or want help evaluating one, submit your details for the current pack and review process.
Initial Fit Check: We review your background, investment readiness and selected catchment. Kerala is a prospective state so response times may be longer than operating-state queues.
Site Audit: If you have a space, our expansion manager runs our 8-point scorecard and checks the rent against our 8–10% ceiling.
Target Rollout: After approvals and agreement, mobilise fit-out, staffing and local launch preparation. Timing remains site-dependent.
Kerala Franchise Questions
- How many TrimX franchise salons are planned for Kerala?
- Kerala is a prospective FY27 expansion state. The current Wave 1 plan evaluates 6–8 outlets across Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. The page maps 22 prospective catchments; none is a confirmed or exclusive territory until site, commercial and agreement approvals are complete.
- What is the turnkey investment required to open in Kerala?
- The current planning estimate is ₹20L for a 300–400 sq.ft, 4-chair neighbourhood salon format. It is indicative, not a quote or guaranteed total. The current franchise pack confirms the included scope and commercial terms before agreement.
- Is TrimX already operating in Kerala?
- Not yet. TrimX currently operates in Telangana and Karnataka. Kerala is on the FY27 published roadmap starting with Kochi, Trivandrum and Kozhikode. The regional ops lead and academy capacity are to be stood up on the first Wave 1 commit.
- How fast can a Kerala salon open after site approval?
- The current rollout target is 30 days after agreement sign-off, site approval and property handover. Actual timing can vary with site conditions, contractors, monsoon exposure and statutory approvals.
- Can I invest if I don’t want to run daily salon operations?
- Yes. Under the FOCO model (Franchise-Owned, Company-Operated), you fund the setup and retain store ownership, while TrimX manages stylist staffing, academy training, daily operations, customer experience, and POS audits, sharing store revenue directly with you.
- What makes Kerala different from the Ahmedabad launch?
- Kerala has well-entrenched local branded chains in large-format mall retail. TrimX targets the compact 500m-radius society catchment where the branded 4-chair format is still thin. Conservative monthly sales assumptions start slightly lower than Ahmedabad to reflect the price-conscious core customer.
- What if I already own a commercial property in Kerala?
- If you have a 300–400 sq.ft ground-floor commercial space in or near one of the mapped catchments, submit the property details for review. The expansion team will assess the site, access, rent and commercial fit; response times depend on the active review queue.
